Loopholes in legal regulations, errors in technical standards and insufficient flaes in the standards of foreign associations entering the national market have prompted the need to unify standards for height activities. The initiative came under the umbrella of the Czech Speleological Society (CSS), an organization bound with professional rope access. Not only many single rope techniques are fully applicable to industrial rope access and vertical rescue, but in the past CSS also participated in developing technical standards for personal fall protection equipment, commented on the emerging legal norms, its members worked as work at height instructors, were holders of the instructor license and acted as forensic examiners in the safety and protection of work at height. Later on, being already an independent legal entity, the Czech Rope Access Association (CRAA – Česká asociace pro aktivity a práce ve výškách) was founded in 2013 by members of the Committee for Single Rope Technique of the Czech Speleological Society. Highly experienced in rope technique, work at height in different sectors (e.g. construction, power industry, maintenance, manufacture, communications, forestry, arboriculture, rock slope engineering), height and rescue, risk prevention, health & safety, education and height professional training, its lecturers created a unique and complex education program for height workers.
The CRAA associates natural and legal persons in the field of work and rescue at height, it also educates interested subjects and participates in creating technical documentation.
